Hearst Museum object titled Basket, accession number 1-10214, described as Basket; coiled. Warp is grass, weft is Redbud (Cercis occidentalis). Black pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina). Red pattern is Redbud. Apparently two baskets, elliptical and recurved, joined by a flat basketry foundation.  Both the foundation and the baskets are coiled.  Decoration: smaller basket has open red diamond figures in a design termed "rare" by Samuel A. Barrett; larger basket has red variant on zigzag pattern. Designs are in redbud.
Hearst Museum object titled Dipper, accession number 1-9932, described as Dipper basket; coiled. Warp is Grass, weft is Sedge (Carex). Black pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina). Small, known as "dipper basket."  Decoration: black triangular design. Designs are executed in bracken fern root. 3-rod coiling, with split stitching (stitiches split on interior face).
