Hearst Museum object titled Statue (reproduction), accession number 21-253, described as Cast of Sophocles. the tragic poet. From a marble statue in the Lateran Museum, Rome. Discovered at Terracina in 1839.  Restorations by Tererani: left hand, both feet, plinth and manuscript case.  A capital antique copy, probably, of a bronze portrait statue erected to the poet in the theater at Athens, under Lykourgos, in the 4th Century B.C.
