Hearst Museum object titled Basket, accession number 1-164142, described as Twined openwork salmon serving basket. Tag: "Klamath R. Tribes Att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined openwork serving basket, with use stains. The warp material is probably hazel. It has a crossed warp starting knot. The weft is conifer root. At the starting knot there is closer spaced diagonal twining. After that the there are rows of wefts separated by about 1 inch of openwork warps. Some warps are bent between each weft row to form V shapes. At the rim the wefts are spaced closer. The rim is trimmed. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction. The workface is on the exterior. At the base there is some cloth or string. The basket is from Northwestern California.

Starting after the starting knot, there is 2.5 inches of plain twining, followed by two weft rows of three strand twining, followed by openwork plaiting upward and extending down to creating an additional base. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket is from Northwestern California, with an atypical design but typical material and mostly typical techniques.
