: Hearst Museum object titled Kayak, accession number 2-62061, described as Kayak; skin-covered kayak with damaged hull; large circular hole at bow, projecting handgrip at stern. Wooden frame with skin cover of walrus or seal hide. As Larry Dawson and others recall (1979) the kayak was made on Nunivak Island but was bought on the mainland where it had been in use. The donors left it outdoors here in the Bay Area where it deteriorated and warped out of shape.
