Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled flaring basket bowl, used for sifting. The basket has a twined start. The coil foundation is mixed rod and splint. The wefts are redbud, peeled and unpeeled. The design is horizontal bands of alternating rows of peeled and unpeeled redbud. The rim is plain wrapped and the rim coil ending is missing, apparently cut, with the cut extending two coil rows below the rim. The weft fag ends are primarily tucked and some are trimmed. The moving ends are primarily concealed. The stitches are split in a few places on the back face. The basket has an exterior workface, the work direction is to the right, and the slant of weft twist is primarily down to the right.
