: Hearst Museum object titled Fishing net, accession number 18-1111, described as fish net: frame formed by two bamboo poles tied together at both ends with rattan crosspiece at one end, making the form fish-shaped. Nylon net in poor condition tied to frame. Rattan ring at narrow end. Context of use: Scoop fish net used for scooping fish out of water. Right arm inserted through rattan ring with bamboo crosspiece grasped in hand. Fish scooped from water are slid towards body into boat. Used whenever fish surface, especially during flood conditions or when fish are poisoned. Netting bought factory made and frames made by men. Used by men.
