: Hearst Museum object titled Tongs, accession number 7-829, described as Sugar tongs, silver metal. Engraved 'lion passant' on the inside of one haft, the mark [see catalog card for drawing] on the inside of the other. 2 mm. wide, crudely incised, wavy border around the edge, garland decoration on outside of haft, incised dot patter on outside of bowls, monogram IRM on top of handle. Poor plate on pale brass base. Length 13 cm. Supposed to belong to the family of Admiral Russell. The mark [see catalog card] might indicate an Arabic origin. May be nickel silver.
