Image Missing: Hearst Museum object titled Anthropomorphic mask, accession number 3-28398, described as Mask; anthropomorphic, female; carved of light weight, dark stained wood; wood then painted black across forehead and in front of ears to represent hair. The mouth is carved with closed lips, the nose is slightly shaped at nostrils, above eyeballs are cut slits for use of wearer. The mask appears to have broken at some point and then repaired. Break is vertical from center of chin to left side top. Center section of face from upper lip to center of eye and root of nose is a separate section, apparently inserted at time of repair of vertical break; nice fitting repair. Holes on each side of vertical break perhaps part of early repair attempt. Holes upper, out corners of mask for attaching to wearer; vegetable cordage tied through holes. Repair noted above made before received from donor. height 18 cm, width 15 cm.
