Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-70749, described as Coiled, bowl shape. Tag "Pomo". Interior tag " "17NTT" Pomo". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled basket globular bowl. The basket has a starting knot with a weft foundation. The rest of the basket has a three rod foundation, probably willow. The weft materials are sedge root as the background, with the designs in black bulrush root. Two triangles are on the base. On the sides are various sized triangles with quail top not like extensions. The rim has alternating sedge root and bulrush. The workface is on the exterior, with very few split stitches on the back face. The weft fag ends and the moving ends are concealed. The work direction is to the left. The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a tapered coil ending. This basket is attributed to the Pomo due to the materials, work direction, starting knot, and shape.
