Hearst Museum object titled Blanket, accession number 5-15403, described as Blanket. Blue and white (undyed). Constructed of 9 strips handsewn together, alternating stripes at each end with matching woven brocade pattern area in the center. Unfinished fringe. 170 centimeters by 298 centimeters including fringe. From Mali, Segou, Dogon. Materials and techniques: handspun natural and dyed single and 2-ply yarns, weft face plain weave, overlay brocade patterning. Context of use: donor notes blanket was made to be used by males.

Made from 4 pieces of handwoven cotton hand-stitched together; natural dyes (indigo and cocchineal red (?)); black weft thread; supplementary warp design; rolled hand-stitched hems.
