Finer knotted pattern making up body of bag is broken by two 1 inch-wide bands of larger pattern.  Large open squares at top taper into handles.  Cost about $1.50.  Prob. not a native taiwanese technique or design but introduced by a U.S. artists employed by UN agency to aid crafts people in underdeveloped lands.  January 1969  condit. good.  14 inches wide by 18½ inches long.
