Hoefler's original description: "Lagos, Nigeria, British West Africa. Here ended the long trek commenced in British East Africa on the Indian Ocean. Beyond the huts roars the Atlantic's surf, and we were happy to hear its music after our long fight through tropical jungles that had started in September of 1928 and now brought us here in August 1929."
