Hearst Museum object titled Acorn meal basket, accession number 1-11960, described as Globose coiled basket.  Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled globose basket bowl.  There are no abrasions or residue. The basket has a tight spiral coiled start with indentation and a small hole in the center, but not pinhole start however. The start's wefts have three rows of unpeeled redbud.  The coil foundation is three rod peeled shoots.  The wefts are peeled redbud background with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design is diagonal lines with flags off the top and bottom of the lines, quail designs per informant.  There are no random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped; the rim coil ending is missing.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped. The weft moving ends are primarily concealed.  The exterior of the basket has about 15% split stiches; the interior has over 90% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction, and various slant of weft twist.  Based on the lack of random rectangles and Lizzie Chicken's background of being half-Yuki half-Wailaki this basket was woven in the style of Wailaki baskets.
Hearst Museum object titled Cooking basket, accession number 1-11964, described as Plate form coiled sifting basket.  Tags: "no. Lost Yuki", "# Lost" and "1-11964 Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Wide flaring coiled bowl, in the shape of a sifting or cooking basket.  It has no staining or residue.  The start is a spiral start.  The warp is splints with a peeled shoot rod.  The weft material is redbud, both peeled and unpeeled, with another possible redbud that is lighter and browner than other unpeeled redbud. The design includes the start which is unpeeled for 1 1/2 inches, three bands of three horizontal lines with one break in each band at the same point.  There are also random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped; with the rim coil ending missing about five wefts.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped, with some concealed; the weft moving ends are concealed.  50% of the wefts are split on the interior, less than 30% are split on the exterior.  The wefts are non-interlocking.  The basket has an exterior workface.  It has a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.
Hearst Museum object titled Cooking basket, accession number 1-11967, described as Very old plate form parching basket with bottom mended.  Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled broad flaring basket,  used as a parcher and possibly as a cooking pot, with residue from food, wefts worn down to the foundation rods, and the interior is blackened with use.  The basket has a coiled start, and is difficult to see.  The coil foundation is rods and splints of peeled shoots.  The wefts are peeled redbud with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design is alternating peeled and unpeeled redbud, with a break that lines up.  There are some random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped.  The coil ending is missing.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped with some concealed.  The weft moving ends are difficult to see, some are concealed.  The exterior has below 5% split stiches.  The interior of the basket has over 50% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.
Hearst Museum object titled Storage basket, accession number 1-11966, described as Large, deep, straight sided coiled basket. Tag:  "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled basket bowl, probably made for storage, with some wear at the interior base but no obvious residue.  The basket has an oval coiled start that has been stitched over. The coil foundation is three rods of peeled shoots, with some splints.  The wefts are peeled redbud with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design includes parallel diagonal series of connected rectangles crossing to form a diamond pattern.  There are random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped and the coil ending is blunt with two diagonal backstitches.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped, with some bound under.  The weft moving ends are concealed.  The exterior workface has about 5% split stiches.  The interior back-face of the basket has over 95% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction and a mixed slant of weft twist.
