Per Ralph Shanks:  Openwork wall-pocket/ basket pouch, made for sale.  The warp material is probably willow.  The basket has conifer root wefts, and the rim is wrapped in beargrass and redbud.  The basket has alternating rows of plain twining and parallel warp openwork.  The uppermost row of openwork is crossed warp openwork.  The rim is two rows of plain twining and at least two reinforcing rods wrapped in beargrass and redbud.  The basket has a rightward work direction, with rows of up to the right alternating with rows of down to the right slant of weft twist.  There is a hair woven into the basket.  The basket is from Northern California based on the use of redbud this may not be from Northwestern California.
