Alder painted red and green. Label: "George Davidson, Chilkat, Aug. 1869." Wood and fish design type identified by Charles Brown, June 1964. Flat motif on back of spoon, like the handle, represents a man inside a fish (man was saved by fish who swallowed him and carried him ashore inside its belly). Fish looks like a salmon.
