Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-70209, described as Coiled, oval shape.  Tag "Mission Type Oval". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled oval basket bowl.  Deergrass bundle foundation.  The design wefts are orange, tan, and black dyed juncus.  The background wefts are sumac.  The design is a band of a diamond net with crosses inside the diamonds.  The design is outlined with a single band of black dyed juncus at the bottom and at the top.  The basket has an oval starting knot.  The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction.  The weft fag ends are clipped.  The rim is plain wrapped with a tapered coil ending.  Due to the technique and materials the attribution is Cahuilla.
