The weft overlay is primarily beargrass, with one line of maidenhair fern.  At the starting knot there is 1.5 inches of three strand twining, followed by plain twining until 3/4 inch from the rim where there is one weft row of three strand twining, followed by plain twining to the rim.  The rim is trimmed.  The design is alternating conifer root and beargrass. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction.  The overlay is single-sided on the exterior; there is some overlay on the inside.  The workface is on the exterior.   There is a hair woven into the interior.  The basket is from Northwestern California.
