Hearst Museum object titled Petticoat, accession number 3-23120, described as Petticoat. Bleached muslin; hem decorated with floral pattern in eyelet embroidery in white commercial thread. Waist band extended to form waistband. Length 79 cm. Width at bottom 90 cm. Cf. 25-3483-92; 13-5867 and 13-6004-05. See field notes in accession envelope. “Fustan” means petticoat in Spanish. “Pik” means petticoat in Maya. Bleached muslin and eyelet embroidery. Context of use: 3-23120, 3-23121 or 3-23122 and 3-23124 comprise Yucatecan woman’s everyday dress.
