According to donor's catalog: "Netsuke made of wood with traces of paint. Depicts an actor holding a mask aloft. This piece is badly worn and retains none of its original character. This kind of netsuke is often called a trick netsuke because it balances on one foot. Attributed to Shuzan, which places the date of this object in the late 1600s.
