: Hearst Museum object titled Netsuke, museum number 9-8967, described as Netsuke: large man with full beard stands on one foot and raises a mask high above his head with his right hand. 15.1 cm. According to donor's catalog: "Netsuke made of wood with traces of paint. Depicts an actor holding a mask aloft. This piece is badly worn and retains none of its original character. This kind of netsuke is often called a trick netsuke because it balances on one foot. Attributed to Shuzan, which places the date of this object in the late 1600s.
