Hearst Museum object titled Carrying basket, accession number 1-2528, described as Openwork. Tags "Lassik" and "kailtsai" Per Ralph Shanks:  Open work twined conical burden basket with carrying strap, probably used.  Crossed warp starting knot, formed by 2 bundles of warps crossed by 2 bundles of warps.  Warp and wefts are peeled shoots, probably willow (Salix). Starting at the starting knot there is about 2 inches of close weft plain twining, followed by openwork plain twining over parrallel warps to 1 inch below the rim, where there is a pattern of crossed warps alternating with parallel warps.  Rim is trimmed with 1 rod affixed with leather lashing in the Lassik style to the interior. Carrying strap affixed with leather ties.The basket has an exterior workface.  The slant of weft twist is up to the right; the work direction is to the right.  The basket has one flat side.
Hearst Museum object titled Pan basket, accession number 1-2542, described as Pan basket. Small.  Tag: "Lassik Tugatci", second tag "Lassik". Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined basket tray, it appears to be used and contains food residue.  Crossed warp starting knot, not Northwestern California style.  Warps are a peeled shoot, possibly willow (Salix), and the wefts are conifer root (Pinophyta) with a beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax) overlay.  Starting at the starting knot there is three strand twining for 5/8 inch followed by two weft rows of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by 1/2 inch of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by 1 inch of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by 1/2 inch of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by 1 1/8 inches of plain twining, followed by one weft row of lattice twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by three weft rows of plain twining.  The rim is trimmed, with the warp sticks extending up in a few places, and the last weft row is missing in some areas.  The design is five horizontal bands of beargrass in various patterns; beargrass is also on part of the lattice twining.  The basket has an exterior workface.  The overlay is on the exterior and irregularly on the interior.  The slant of weft twist is up to the right; the work direction is to the right.  The basket slightly undulates.
Hearst Museum object titled Serving tray, accession number 1-2537, described as Openwork pan basket.  Tag: "Kaitel" and "Lassik".  Second tag "Lassik". Per Ralph Shanks:  Openwork plain twined basket tray, maybe for drying fish or serving food, used and has residue.  The start is crossed, but unlike most Northwestern California basket starts the cross is not at a right angle.  Peeled and unpeeled shoots for the warps and split shoots for the wefts, both possibly willow (Salix). The warps are parallel, primarily single warp sticks but are sometimes double.   There are three closely spaced weft rows at the rim.  The rim is trimmed.   The basket has a up to the right slant of weft twist.  The basket has an exterior workface and a rightward work direction and has minor undulations

Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined basket tray, with large amounts of food residue, probably used for serving food.  Crossed warp starting knot, not Northwestern California style.  Warps are a peeled shoot, possibly willow (Salix), and the wefts are conifer root (Pinophyta) with a beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax) overlay. Starting at the starting knot there is three strand twining for 1/2 inch, followed by plain twining for 3/4 inch, followed by one weft row of lattice twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by 3 1/4 inches are plain twining, followed by one weft row of lattice twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by eight weft rows of plain twining.  The rim is trimmed; part of the last weft row is missing.  The design is six horizontal bands of beargrass, three of which are triangles, the rest are plain lines.  The basket has an exterior workface.  The overlay is on the exterior and irregularly on the interior.  The slant of weft twist is up to the right; the work direction is to the right.  The basket slightly undulates.
