Used by both men and women, made by men.

: Hearst Museum object titled Miniature table, accession number 3-26931, described as stool (model), wood and nails; top is composed of 3 planks and is concave; plank sides, 2 struts; used as stool while patting out tortillas on table (cf. 3-26930). Also used as seat anytime. Full size one is about 1’ high. Stool and table, along with hammocks, are the only furnishings in a traditional Maya house.

At full size they are 2-3’ high. The woman sits on the stool (3-26931) and pats out the tortilla. There is a small square of plastic placed between tortilla and table to keep tortilla from sticking to table. Table can also be used for eating. Used mainly by peasants in palm-thatched houses.
