Hearst Museum object titled Doll, accession number 2-71771, described as Male hunter doll.  Figure dressed in traditional water proof and windproof seal/walrus intestine parka.  Has a bleadched sealskin face with embroidered features and appliqued nose.  Soft sealskin body, crimped seal soled mukluks.  His seal skin hair is cut in traditional Siberian style, bald on top, with fringe around the head.  Park is entirely hand sewn.  It has seal fur at the ends of each arm and around the bottom of the parka.  It is bleached white, sewn with sinew.  Has a suede belt tied around waist.   H = 34.5 cm.

Fur around face.  Red leather knife sheath attached to belt.  H = 9.5”

Hearst Museum object titled Doll, accession number 2-71723, described as Alaskan Eskimo doll.  Carved reindeer horn, painted features and hair.  Dressed in sealskin parka, pants and mukluks.  The parka has the arms attached to it, so that when it is removed the figure is armless.

Leather tunic with fringe across chest and shoulders, beaded w/ red/white/light blue, including around sleeves. Leather headband.  Caribou teeth for hands.   H = 9”.

Dressed in short mukluks with red trim.  The fur parka of brown sealskin which has decorative tufts of wool, pink yarn strands and fur, with yellow and blue beads around hem.  Mukluks decorated with red, green and white beads on front.  H = 11”

Dresed in brown/tan mukluks w/ red flannel tops, grey fur breeches, red calico print suspuk and w/ leather tong belt around waist.  Trimmed in white rabbit fur around hood and black faux fur at wrists.  Baby is properly in the hood and peeks out over the mother’s shoulder.  Baby also has a leather head w/ painted features and black yarn hair.   H = 10.5”

Dressed in big, heavy sealskin boots to the knees, over khaki trousers.  Wears a dull rose, brown and blue print kuspuk trimmed with goat hair around the hood, seal skin hands and seal fur cuffs.  Head scarf is of same material as kuspuk.  H = 10”.
