Said by Hall to be “used by Russians at St. Michael when trading with natives in 1820” but date of 1843 is clearly incised on beam crossbar. Inscription reads: “Tula A.A. 1843”. ula is the most prominent metal crafts production center in Russia, just south of Moscow.
