Small bone point (barbed on one side) attached to a leather thong splitting at its ends to be connected at two places on the wooden shaft (Y-shaped harpoon line). Socket made of a heavy bone lashed with a braided sinew thread to the shaft.

Hearst Museum object titled Harpoon, accession number 2-6309, described as Wood shaft with foreshaft of bone. Latter 3 sided fitted to wooden shaft by sinew lashings, pierced near base for reception of rawhide line by which it is attached to shaft. Spearhead also of bone, triangular shape with metal point.
