Hearst Museum object titled Shirt, accession number 9-12109, described as Religious undershirt; Parsi man's; white muslin; cap sleeves, V-neckline with symbolic pocket at bse; semi-circular patch at back of neck beafs donor's initials and laundry code; Length 78 cm., width 74 cm. Worn at all times by traditional Parsis as a badge of Zoroastrianism. Bound around the waist by the kasti or sacred thread.
Hearst Museum object titled Tank top, accession number 9-12110, described as Religious undershirt; Parsi woman's; white muslin; thin shoulder straps, wide circular neckline with symbolic pocket in front; donor's relative's initial sewn in back in red cotton thread; length 22 cm, width 53.5 cm. Sadra religious shirt, cotton, hand sewn. Traditionally worn at all times by Parsis following their initiation as a badge of Zorastrianism. Bound around the waist with the kasti or sacrwed thread. This speciman is interesting for its extreem abbreviation and deviation from the traatiional style in that it was made to conform to the short cholis or sari blouses that became fasionable from 1950 onwards.

Sadra-religous shirt. Collector's intitials in blue cotton sewn near left side seam. Traditionally worn by all Parsis after their initiation as a badge of Zorastrianism. Bound around the waist wiht the kasti or sacred thread.
