Carved burl. Japan attr. Hotei imitating Buddha. Hotei is Japanese god of magnanimity. This figure is a "spoof" of Buddhism. Hotei is one of the so-called Seven Gods of Happiness of popularized Buddhism. Max. w. 10.5 cm.
