Central Mandarin duck is both painted and woven in green, blue, pink and yellow w/ gold wrapped details on it’s back; duck  stands on a blue rock over blue & white water and waves, and is surrounded by Buddhist and Taoist symbols and clouds against a gold wrapped sky ground; red Imperial sun in upper left corner.  Symbols are painted in detail.  Backing is a coarse open weave fabric [sacking?].

Front panels; W=15.5cm, L=30 cm.  Back panel, W= 29.5 cm, L=32 cm.   Black ground fabric w/ central egret surrounded by blue and gold water, clouds & Buddhist & Taoist symbols.  Embroidery is dark, medium & light blues, off-white, gold, orange-red.  Back (c) is one piece.  Front (a) and (b), has been split in half, through image.  Gold couched, Greek -key patterned border on all edges on a blue/black ground.  Black lining.

Blouse; yoke, 35 cm x 11 cm., synthetic fabric, off-white with lime polkadots ,neck trim  made of 2.3 cm black with .4 cm of orange cotton band and runs 16 cm from shoulder seam to where it is interrupted at neck center for 2.5 cm back and front where synthetic fabric is pleated; neckband is 25cm l x 1.5 cm encasing a gathering cord. sleeves; ,18 cm. l. pleated at shoulder and cuff.; cuff bordered by 1.2 cm black cotton trim.  Mola; 37 cm l. x 42 cm. w. affixed at top by yellow, red, and black trim and pink machine-made rick rack; bottom is trim  3.5 cm lime colored band topped by a 1 cm. band of red in the middle; all cotton.  Motif is 2 feline (?)  creatures facing each other standing on a triangular shaped object  with  a cross in  center and knob shape on top.  Background filled with geometric shapes w/ two layered dots.; color layers are black on top, orange in the middle and red at bottom layer; other colors back up appliqueed pieces of fill.  Faces of ÒcatsÓ are are embroidered, clawfeet  of animals are black  backed by white material and appear newer than rest of textile.Front and back identical..
Hearst Museum object titled Mola, accession number 3-30179, described as Mola blouse, Blouse, floral printed cotton, white with red and green; yoke, 9cm w. x 47 cm. l., trim at neck in black orange and red cotton, 38.5 cm,self fabric neckband encases gathering cord; connecting trim to mola, saw tooth applique trim in orange and black 1.cm w. with white strip at bottom 2cm w. lower edge trim of mola ; pieced black and yellow , widely pleated in sections from 8 to 14 cm. w x 6.3 cm. h. Sleeves 12 cm x 16 cm. with red rick rack and 1 cm. black stripe as trim.  Mola:, 47.5 cm  w.x 37.5 h. Back; mirror images; 2 facing long plummaged birds w/ wide tails attached to/riding on backs of 2 tapir -like animals; animals and all background space  filled w/ vertical linear reverse applique openings over pieced backing in orange, blue, pink, printed , yellow, magenta, jade green, olive green.; fine stitching and chain embroidery decorate the faces and legs and outlines of animals.  Front; virtually same design, but animals have red top layer over orange ; back, yellow, over red base fabric.background.
