Hearst Museum object titled Sarong, accession number 18-1489, described as Sarong, cotton batik; at one end between single diagonal bands is an area with diamonds, triangles (âtumpalsâ), the latter filled with rosettes, curvilinear and geometric motifs; the balance of the design on the textile is diamonds with various fillers, each separated by indigo stripes on tan; indigo, rose and tan colors; fragile, multiple tears, some fabric missing at both ends. According to Jos. Fischer this is a typical turn-of-the-century (19-20th) trade cloth. Width 1 meter. Length 177 cm.
