Main design is row of large diamonds. Tag: NW. Calif. Att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl, slightly incurving. Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is hazel. The weft material is conifer root. The weft overlay design is beargrass and red dyed Woodwardia. Starting at the starting knot, there are 1 1/4 inches of three strand twining, followed by 1.5 inches of plain twining, followed by two weft rows of three strand twining. Plain twining continues to the rim where there is ⅓ inch of parallel warp open work. The rim is wrapped in beargrass, around an unknown material. The main design is a horizontal chain of diamonds. The basket has a rightward work direction, with up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay is primarily single-sided, with the design on the exterior, and the materials in reverse design on the interior. The basket is from Northwest California.
