Coiled, 3-rod foundation of willow shoots, sedge root sewing strands, feathers of meadow lark (yellow), mallard duck (black) and quail topknots, with abalone shell pendants.
Hearst Museum object titled Basket and ribbon, accession number 1-70116, described as Round, flat base, flaring sides, snake and eagle design in black on ground of mixed shades of brown, coiled.  Tag: "Mission Type" "Eagle Snake".  Two ribbons with basket, one probably does not go with it, but both have the same catalog number.  Light blue ribbon "First Prize Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Gallup New Mexico 1934".  Dark blue ribbon "First Prize Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Gallup New Mexico 1936". Per Ralph Shanks:  Broad flaring bowl; made for sale.  Materials include a deergrass bundle foundation and orange, green, and black dyed juncus wefts as well as some sumac wefts.  The primary design is a coiled rattlesnake, with smaller designs of an eagle and another animal, possibly a rabbit.  The workface is on the inside.  The wefts are bound under and the work direction is to the right.  The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a tapered coil ending with a few back-stitches.
