Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-28156, described as Openwork basket bowl.  Grimy from use.  Twill twining; one row of 3-strand twining about 3.5 cm from start; 3 top rows more closely worked.  Tag: "Nongatl". Per Ralph Shanks:  Open-work basket serving tray, used.  Crossed warp starting knot.  Probably hazel or willow warps with hazel or willow wefts.  Starting at the starting knot there is plain twining for 1 1/2 inches, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by 3 inches of plain twining, with two rows of close twined weft rows at the rim.  The warps are variably placed, but not crossed.  The rim is trimmed.  The workface is on the exterior.  The basket has a rightward work direction and an up to the right slant of weft twist.
