Made of tule and cattail. Tag "Shoemaker" and on the back "Klamath 101". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined oval basket with handle. Radiating starting knot. The warp material is tule cordage. The weft material is tule, cattail, and designs in dark brown/ tule root. Starting after the starting knot there is plain twining to the rim of the base, where there are two weft rows of lattice twining. Extending up the side of the basket there is plain twining up to 3/4 of an inch from the rim where there is another pair of lattice twined rows. This is followed by a 1/4 inch of plain twining. The warps are bound down into the interior. The handle is formed by braided cordage. The basket has a rightward work direction, with a down to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Southern Oregon or Northeastern California, made by the Klamath, Modoc, Eastern Atsugewi, or Eastern Achumawi.
