Round, clear glass, covered with plain twined basketry, with half-twist overlay. Circular bands of geometric designs in dark and light brown on wheat colored field.  Lower edge of lid is broken, upper edge broken and repaired with glue. Materials:  Conifer root, white grass, stained and dyed woodwardia fern.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined basketry covered glass bottle with basketry cap.  The main basket has a crossed warped knot.  The warp material is probably hazel.  The weft material is conifer root. The weft design overlay is maidenhair fern with a beargrass background.  Starting after the starting knot, there is .5 inch of three strand twining followed by .5 inch of plain twining followed by one weft row of three strand twining.   Plain twining continues after that all of the way up to the rim.  The design is diagonal stacked triangles surrounding diagonally stacked parallelograms.  The rim is trimmed.   The lid has a crossed warp starting knot, covered with beargrass.  The rest of the materials for both baskets are the same.   From the lid's starting knot there is 3/8ths of an inch of three strand twining, followed by 1/4 inch of plain twining, followed by two weft rows of three strand twinning, after that there is plain twining to the rim.  Both of the baskets have a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist.  The cap has a single-sided overlay with the design on the exterior.  The workface for both baskets is on the exterior.  The basket is from Northwestern California.

Bands of plain twining, wheat colored and light brown, alternating with crossed stick openwork. (a) Bottle. (b) Cork stopper.  Label: "Klamath River".  Second label "Klamath R. tribes att.". Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined openwork basketry covered glass liquor bottle.  There is a cork stopper.  Crossed warp starting knot.  The warp material is probably willow or hazel.  The weft material is conifer root.  The weft overlay is red-dyed woodwardia and beargrass.  Starting at the starting knot, there is .5 inch plain twining followed by one weft row of three strand twining.  That is followed by .75 inch of plain twining, followed by alternating .5 inch crossed warp openwork and .25 inch of close twining all of the way up to the neck.  At the neck there are four weft rows of three strand twining, followed by another row of openwork, followed by .5 inch of plain twining, followed by .25 inch of openwork, followed by one weft row of plain twining, followed by three weft rows of three strand twining.  The rim is trimmed.   The basket has a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist.  The workface is on the exterior.  The basket is from Northwestern California.
