Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably hazel or willow. The wefts are conifer root. The weft overlay background is beargrass, with designs in red dyed Woodwardia, and maidenhair fern. At the starting knot there is ⅓ inch of three strand twining followed by plain twining to the edge of the base, where there is a single weft row of lattice twining. Plain twining continues until ½ inch below the rim, where there are two weft rows of lattice twining with one weft row of plain twining between them. Plain twining continues until the rim. The rim is trimmed. The basket is almost entirely covered in overlay. The main design is vertical zigzags with triangles on the exterior with a horizontal maidenhair fern band at the top and bottom. The base has three horizontal rows of designs in beargrass. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay is on the exterior. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist, and a rightward work direction. The basket is from Northwestern California.
