Hearst Museum object titled Bottle, accession number 9-12653, described as Oil bottle; stoneware, tear-drop shape, wide mouth rim on constricted neck, narrow foot covered with coarse sand particles, chip out of foot, shiny glaze that is rust brown where thick, green where thin, slip (?) underneath glaze, two incised bands on upper body, 4 7/8” (11.8 cm) diameter, 8 5/8” (21.8 cm) high.

"Hare's fur" flambe on interior sides. Seven stilt marks on the inside bottom. Has no foot. base not glazed. H. 9.5 cm. rim dia. 21 cm.

Dimensions: 10 inch diameter; 1 to 7/8 inches high. Remarks: Adaptation of Oriental motifs; shallow (soup plate). Center medallion surrounded by 4 Oriental vase and flower motifs, enclosed by a 0.5 inch band. Rim has leaf shaped motif that has been pieced to make design cover entire rim.

Two modeled ring-loop ornaments attached to opposite sides, glazed brown. Crude incised kiln mark on foot reading “Made in the reign of Cheng Hua” (Ming Dynasty).
