Large black; loose cloth dolls, metal olf cracks and repairs; one tusk broken off; piece missing from crown; pair horns missing. "President Snyder." Headpiece; carved wood; anthropomorphic face mask with pair of tusk-like teeth surmounted by structure w/ tubular metal-faced shaft and platform with 4 heads, 1 chicken; bird and 4 standing cloth-wrapped human figures (B-E) on top, raffia fringe. Old termite damage and some parts missing. A) main body of mask B) doll attached to headpiece 35.5cm; C) doll w/ wodden head, elaborate hairstyle/headpiece. The cloth is striped (vertically). Ht. 34.3 cm. D) doll with body covered with black material, stick in hand, wears a hat with flap in front. Ht 34 cm. E) doll with one arm missing; covered in brown material. Ht. 36cm. F) Raffia attachment, knotted and attached to a braided band. Dark brown color. The entire piece is heavily encrusted and stained. Collected pre-1948

Ht. 34 cm. upper right corner mirror broken off.

Hearst Museum object titled Mirror case, accession number 5-15946, described as carved wood mirror case, carved on both sides. rectangular case with animals on the top. snake on left eating a rooster (in the middle) eating a small animal with long tail, no ears and bulging eyes on the side of its head (on the right). U-shaped pieces of metal act as hinges on top and bottom of each of the 2 doors, on overlaps the other. door fronts have geometric patterns. diamond shape with diagonal incisions on the top and bottom of each door with outlined blank back, center piece. area under rooster's head has a semi-circular divet removed. blue and green pegment inside on lower snake has 5 diagonal stripes on portion of its body. snake teeth are large, pointy and fill the mouth. interior of diamond-shapes on the back are cross-hatched. 34.5 cm high x 15.5 cm wide x 4.5 cm deep.
