Hearst Museum object titled Animal figure, accession number 16-20448, described as Peruvian animal figure. Carved wooden figure with features of both birds and reptiles. Flattened, broad, triangular head has two mother of pearl inlaid eyes atop the head and a broad mouth with prominent teeth. body features vestigial wing-like structures and a prominent spine. a broad, bird-like tail, spread as wide as the head is decorated with a band of geometric (triangles) figures and parallel line approximately ¼ inch apart. Figure is recumbent with a rectangular stand as base.
