Hearst Museum object titled Teapot, accession number 9-13437a,b, described as Tea Pot (a), with lid (b):  Yi-hsing stoneware.  Small Hexagonal, with slightly convex sides, high shoulder, narrow hexagonal neck.  Recessed base.  Large ear-shaped handle, "S" shaped spout molded in form of bamboo segments.  Slight relief bamboo leaves near spout.  Glaze (?) and enamel decoration:  Circular medallion on each side, two large, one with pink peonies, other chrysanthemum, with leaves on fine crackled white ground.  Two small medallions with pink geometric floral designs on white; two small with same design in dark green on light green.  Ground between medallions: dark green cloud patterns on blue-green.  Six dark green floral designs on lights-green on shoulder.  White neck.  Handle and spout gray-blue.  Lid (b) flat form with tongue; molded 'stem' finial, and cloud-pattern ground.  Base and interior not glazed.  Surfaces (a&b) very worn.  H. (a) 7.5cm; max L. 17.7cm; H (b) 3.3 max. Dia. 6.9cm Materials:  Red-brown stoneware, slab built and molded.  Glaze (?) and enamel decoration. Yi-hsing were also known as I-hsing, Yixing and formerly Boccaro. (Port.)
